WOW!!! What can I say that hasn't already been said by all these amazing reviews! I spoke with Liz (who was so warm and lovely on the first call) to book the couple's Staycation package for my 1 year marriage anniversary with my wife. In true Man fashion, I only called 2 weeks in advance, which for a place like this I was sure would be too short notice. But Liz and her team made it work and squeezed us into the schedule on our anniversary day.
I was so excited leading up to the day of the experience, as it was a surprise to my wife as well. When we arrived Liz and her team (shout out to Alyssa, Jae, Sarah!) were so warm and welcoming, and explained how the experience works. It's important to note that my wife and I only get massages on vacations, which is barely once a year, and never really do anything in the realm of 'relaxing' experiences, so we were newbies to how this all worked.
We were given comfy slippers and a tour of the facilities, which include rain showers, steam room, sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, hammock, lounge area, and a variety of hot/cold drinks (tea and infused water) and snacks (strawberries, nuts, etc).
We spent the bulk of the first 2 hours enjoying the steam room and hot tub. We could only last in the sauna about 3-4 minutes! And then lounging in the sun on the nice wooden loungers. Instead of fully relaxing, we may have talked shop and work the whole time...oops. Liz said if that's what we find relaxing then it's ok (thanks for understanding, Liz!). We applied the clay mask to each other (very romantic) and wife pointed out how my non-use of sunscreen has been affecting my face.
We had the whole place to ourselves and it felt like a private oasis. I was wondering if you'd feel strange being essentially in the backyard of a townhouse, but it felt so private and peaceful that it didn't bother me at all.
When it came time for the hour-long hot stone massage, we took a quick rinse and laid under the pergola, ready for Liz and Sara's magic hands. They are STRONG! We both felt like jello after, having all our stress melted away (I think Sara called it 'steamrolled' which is hilarious). It lightly rained during the massage, and since the pergola was covered, we didn't get wet and the sounds were an amazing experience.
All in all, a truly wonderful experience and I am so happy I found cityWell Brooklyn. Thank you from me and Tiff for being part of our special day. We will definitely be back before the next anniversary!
All I can say is, BEN! The best massage I have received in a long time. What qualifies the best massage for me you may be asking?
- intuitive and knowledgeable touch
- gently checking in with me (perfect amount of communication) to ensure comfort and preferred pressure.
- aromatherapy option
- attuned to my body’s reactions.
-offered hot stones
- balance of therapeutic and Swedish massage techniques.
- taking the time to ask questions before getting started.
- and just overall amazing intuitive technique!
Ben did all of this and more. Definitely a very calming and comforting presence that gives you permission to relax on the treatment table.
So, if you didn’t gather already, I highly recommend Ben’s services!
Oh… one more thing! The spa manager (I think she’s a manager anyway because she thoroughly helped me find my e-gift certificate that I had lost and made things very smooth for me when putting together my appointment. Plus she brought me really refreshing lemon lime water, perfect for after the massage.
Lovely little spa getaway in the city. I went here for an anniversary back in 2021 and did one of their packages. It was so lovely and amazing! It snowed the day before, so while we did the outdoor hottub, we were surrounded by snow and it was just us the entire time. Service was great. I highly recommend :)
Had been wanting to visit a long time and then was given a gift card so made a reservation. After spending a lot of time looking at the list of services, I settled on the full body luxury massage, a 90 min, full body massage with hot stones. There wasn’t lot of availability in the immediate future that worked with my schedule (needed a weekend) so I had to settle on a date quite far in advance with Sara. By the time that rolled around, a friend had a massage with her and said it was wonderful. I was not let down by the time my date arrived. Sara was wonderful, approachable, communicative, and kind. She took her time to explain certain things and if I had questions, she had answers. It was the most lovely 90mins and I left feeling much better than I had entered and that feeling has stayed with me. She has heat seeking device fingers for all the knots and stuff in my neck and back and truly worked them out with patience and ease. It all felt wonderful. While I was only there for the massage, which took place in the cabin, I did get walked through the space. It’s a very cool concept but I think I’ll just be sticking to massages here and in truth, if I want a bathhouse, I’ll just go to a bathhouse, as I have before. Will come again!
I knew I was going to like cityWell but it was better than I could have imagined! We came during a bachelorette weekend and Liz and Alyssa took amazing care of us. The amenities are amazing and the whole experience was so peaceful and pleasant. We got massages which were great as well. I highly recommend - you can really feel the love that goes into the cityWell experience. I’ll be back as soon as I can!
CityWell is a mini urban oasis of calm, designed for a short stint of self care. I took advantage of a Backyard Bliss 2 hour session and magically had the whole place to myself. The staff are so, so lovely and kind. My 45 minute massage was peaceful and restorative. I loved the steam room and the hot tub and the hammock and the snacks. I would absolutely go back but do 3 hours! They are open rain or shine or snow. Thank you for a lovely day!
I want to keep this place a secret because I know once word gets out there will be a waitlist. Good for the business, bad for me.
This place is an amazing self care oasis in the back of a Brooklyn brownstone. …
